World-renowned Lindy Hop dancer and instructor Gaby Cook is in Colorado on business—and she’s adding a special Boulder Swing workshop to her itinerary! Spend Saturday, Oct. 25, with Gaby at the Avalon ballroom, and explore a wide variety of topics in solo and partnered jazz dance.

10-11 a.m.: Quality of Movement (partnered Lindy Hop, all levels)
11:10 a.m.-12:20 p.m.: Solo Jazz and Groove (all levels)
12:20-2 p.m.: Lunch break
2-3 p.m.: Smooth Move (intermediate Lindy Hop)
3:10-4:10 p.m.: Riffin' Rhythms (Intermediate/Advanced Lindy Hop)
4:20 p.m.-5:20 p.m.: Invitational masterclass

Course descriptions
Quality of Movement (partnered Lindy Hop, all levels)
This all levels class will help dancers improve through movement awareness. Focusing on centers of motion, dancers will deconstruct basic moves and level up their body mechanics—driving better connection and presentation of the dance.
Solo Jazz and Groove (all levels)
Find ways to take the basic steps of solo jazz, and make them fit different grooves and textures.
Smooth Move (intermediate Lindy Hop)
Connection and movement come into focus for this workshop on lindy flow. Students will learn how to execute dynamic moves with technique that improves speed and comfort.
Riffin' Rhythms (Intermediate/Advanced Lindy Hop)
Widen your approach to improvisation and musicality through rhythm. This workshop explores different ways to express rhythmic ideas.
About Gaby
Gaby Cook is an esteemed, active professional in the global lindy hop community. For 20 years, she has established her career performing and teaching for major swing dance festivals worldwide — including Stompology, Swing Out New Hampshire, Camp Hollywood, Beantown, Herräng Dance Camp, Lindy on the Rocks, Paris Jazz Roots and Lindy Focus. On stage, she is a principal dancer for the acclaimed "SW!NG OUT", which premiered at the Joyce theater (2021) and tours regularly. Other stage credits include: “Macy’s Day Parade Live Broadcast” for Nickelodeon’s Blues Clues (2022), "Swing's the Thing" with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra (2023), “Decades of Dance” at the BET Soultrain Awards (2021), “Don’t Mean a Thing” with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center (2021) and many appearances in film and TV. She regularly advocates for lindy hop in industry dance communities and is consistently "on-call" with university dance programs (past: Julliard, Marymount, NYU, Columbia).
In New York, Gaby curates and teaches several swing dance programs, including Midtown Swing with AJ Howard and Columbia University with Nathan Bugh. In class, she is playful, informative and honest. She prioritizes equality for followers and leaders in the classroom space — and has championed a movement first approach to teaching partnered dance content. Online at @gaby_cook.
