The total solar eclipse is to happen in the morning of August 21st for just under three minutes, so the big question is, what are you doing for the other 743 hours and 57 minutes? If dance crossed your mind, then you've come to the right pace! We've got lessons for all levels, social dances a fantastic workshop and an adventure to Gateway Fun Park! Check it out:
Mondays at Kake's
We start a new Level 1 Swing series this month on August 7th from 8-9 PM. If you are new to swing dancing, this is where you should start.
If you've completed a month of Level 1, then you're ready to start our Level 1.5 from 7-8 PM. This month we'll be focusing on swing out technique and adding in turns.
Level 2 will be from 8-9 PM and is for those who've taken two months of 1.5. This month we're on our Charleston series where students will partner Charleston including side-by-side Charleston and tandem Charleston.
For students who've been through all four of our Level 2 material, our Level 2.5 courses are just for you! This month from 7-8 PM each week we'll be teaching Advanced Six Count material, building off of our Level 2 Six Count curriculum we taught last month
After class, from 9 PM-10:30 PM we'll have our regular weekly dance. Staying for the social dance is a great way to try out moves you learn from lessons, as well as get to know your classmates, and it's free if you take a class.
ON AUGUST 7th Jeremy Mohney and his band are playing for us, so stick around for some great live music!
Wednesdays at SKEYE Brewing
Join us for classes on Wednesdays at SKEYE Brewing! We're on month two of our two-month routine series, the Sky Hoppers at 6:30 and Level 1 for beginners starts at 7:30.
SKEYE Brewing is a more intimate class setting, and has the bonus of a 30-minute practice session after class to ask our instructors questions, and share a drink with your classmates.
ON AUGUST 30th we're having our monthly social dance after classes. Join us at 8:30 for a beer, music and swing dancing!
Slip, Slop and Slide: Slides Workshop
Do you want to glide across the dance floor? Have you seen some footsteps that look impossible based upon your knowledge of gravity and the human body? Do you want to wow your dance partner with some awesome stylizations? Got a pair of slick shoes or some socks you don’t mind getting a little dirty? Then come out and learn how to look super cool sliding all over the dance floor!
Join Anthony for a three-hour long intensive on Sunday, August 20th from 12:30 PM- 3:30 PM.
12:30-1:30 LESSON 1
Focus on learning basic sliding technique with a variety of patterns and drills to buff up your slides.
1:30-2:30 LESSON 2
We will introduce some flash steps and old school patterns inspired by the legends themselves the Nicholas Brothers.
2:30-3:30 LESSON 3
This hour we will switch gears and learn the slip slop shim sham choreographed by Dax Hock and Kevin St. Laurent.
We will take breaks, and please bring snacks and water!
$35 ($30 with a student ID) or three punches on your Boulder Swing Dance punch card
Every month at Boulder Swing we try to take a day to get together away from the dance floor. This opportunity affords us the ability to get to know the people we dance with every week, and the folks whom maybe we don't dance with because they practice the same dance roll.
ON AUGUST 13th we're headed to Gateway Fun Park to putt-putt, race go-karts, play arcade games and maybe even do the human maze (or use the batting cages, if you're in to that sort of thing.) We'll meet there at 11 and disperse!
