Get into the swing of things, this Spring! We're running our beginner lesson and a special Shim Sham class at SKEYE on Wednesdays, our Level 1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 at Kake's on Mondays, and our performance team at Kake's on Thursdays. Also join us for a social dance, every Monday night, and on March 29th at SKEYE. This month we're also running a Balboa clinic! Finally, don't miss out on our social outing this month!
Monday's at Kake's
We start a new Level 1 Swing series this month on March 6th from 8-9 PM. If you are new to swing dancing, this is where you should start.
If you've completed a month of Level 1, then you're ready to start our Level 1.5 from 7-8 PM. This month we'll be building on material from Level 1 while teaching dancers the fundamentals needed to progress to level 2.
Level 2 will be from 8-9 PM and is for those who've taken two months of 1.5. This month we're on our six-count material. In this series we teach valuable six count combinations and how to mix them in effectively with eight-count Lindy Hop.
For students who've been through all of our Level 2 material, our Level 2.5 courses are just for you! From 7-8 PM join us for our advanced curriculum.
After class, from 9 PM-10:30 PM we'll have our regular weekly dance. Staying for the social dance is a great way to try out moves you learn from lessons, as well as get to know your classmates, and it's free if you take a class.
ON MARCH 6TH Jeremy Mohney and his band are playing for us, so stick around for some great live music!
Wednesday's at SKEYE Brewing
Join us for our beginner series on Wednesdays at SKEYE Brewing, starting at 7:30. The curriculum will be the same as our Level 1 series on Mondays, so if you miss a class one week, you can make it up on the other night. SKEYE Brewing is a more intimate class setting, and has the bonus of a 30-minute practice session after class to ask our instructors questions, and share a drink with your classmates.
ON MARCH 29TH we're running a special Shim Sham class for the extra Wednesday. Join us at 7:30 PM and learn the most popular swing "line dance." We'll teach you fundamental solo jazz moves and how to string them together for whenever "Tuxedo Junction" or "Tain't What You Do (It's The Way That Cha Do It)" plays. THEN join us after class for a free social dance from 8:30-10 PM. We'll be spinning some great tunes (or perhaps enjoying a live band!), enjoying a neat venue, and you can't beat FREE for admission!
Does your Balboa need a tune up? Looking for new moves or footwork ideas? Are you ready to throw out your toss outs? Then our Balboa Clinic is just what the swing doctor ordered. Join us on Sunday, March 12th from 1 to 3 PM. During the two-hour clinic there will be several stations set up where you can work on and practice different skills, while receiving more personalized attention.
$25 ($15 for students) or two punches on a punch card.
Experience required: Must have learned the closed position Balboa basic.
Thanks to all of those who tried out for our performance team. We're in the process of going over everyone's try-outs. The team will start this March on Thursday nights from 7:30-9 PM at Kake's Studios. If you did not make the team, or missed an opportunity to try out, please continue taking our Monday night classes, and stay tuned for future try-outs.
Every Month Boulder Swing Dance students, teachers and social dancers gather and hang out. These social events are a great opportunity to get to know the folks you see every week.
March in Colorado means totally unpredictable weather so we're opting for an indoor outing so-to-speak. On Saturday, March 18th we're heading just outside of Boulder for the Celestial Seasonings tea tour. If any of you are natives I'm sure you all remember the peppermint room, and if you've never been, you're in for a treat! The best part about this tour?? It's free! We're aiming to be in the 12 PM tour, so please get there early as it is first come, first serve. Once we're done with the tour we'll probably grab some grub in Gunbarrel. There's a pizza place and a couple other options. Check Facebook for more information.
