If you bought a Boulder Swing Dance Groupon this weekend, you may have a few questions:
What does my Groupon get me?
You get a punchcard good for a 4-week progressive series of Lindy Hop classes on Monday nights and 2 of our Saturday dances. Dances are on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of most months.
When can I start classes?
We generally start new class series on the first Monday of the month. Our upcoming series starts are: November 5, December 3, January 7.
Where are you located?
Our Monday night classes are at Kakes Studios, 2115 Pearl Street in Boulder. Our Saturday night dances (1st and 3rd Saturday of the month) are at the Pearl Street Studio, 2126 Pearl Street in Boulder right behind Snarf’s. Please note that we are not at these studios at other times during the week, so if you drop in to talk with someone about the classes, they won’t be able to help you.
Do I have to use up my Groupon in one calendar month?
We recommend that you come for a complete 4-week series since we build on the material as we go through the month. But if you miss a week, you can use your punchcard for a class later. Use your Saturday dance punches any time.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, casual clothing that you can move around in. Both men and women generally wear flat non-sticky shoes that securely stay on their feet. Heels for women aren’t advised for Lindy Hop.
Do I need to sign up before my class?
No, just bring a printout of your Groupon with you. We will exchange it for a punch card good for 4 Monday classes and 2 Saturday dances.
Do I need a partner?
No, many people come without partners and we will rotate partners during class.
Do we have to rotate partners?
We have found that people who rotate through partners during class learn at a much higher rate and seem to have more fun. That said, if you don’t want to rotate in the beginner class, that is fine. However, we expect our Level 2 and up students to rotate partners.
I’m a total beginner at dancing, is that OK?
We start from the very beginning in our Level 1 class, so don’t worry, we’ll get you dancing in no time.
I’ve done some Jitterbug, Tango, Waltz, etc in the past or I learn dancing really fast. What level should I start at?
We cover a lot of vocabulary and technique in our Level 1 classes, so you should still start there. If you think you might belong in the Level 2 class, come a little early to class and we’ll figure out what will work best.
I have more questions. Who should I contact?
Send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll get your questions answered.
See you in class!
