Coming In June at Boulder Swing Dance

Welcome Summer Swing Dancers! We're off to enjoy the nice weather during the days, and hitting the dance floor at nights this month. Join us for our regular line-up of classes at Kake's on Mondays, including an intermediate level Balboa class for Level 2.5 students. On Wednesdays take our Level 1 and 1.5 classes at SKEYE Brewing and stick around for our social dance the last Wednesday of the Month. We're getting ready for the 1940s Ball (June 17th) by hosting a Swing Dance Boot Camp Sunday, June 11th and hitting the foothills for another hike! Check it out:

Monday's at Kake's Studios

We start a new Level 1 Swing series this month on June 5th from 8-9 PM.  If you are new to swing dancing, this is where you should start.

If you've completed a month of Level 1, then you're ready to start our Level 1.5 from 7-8 PM.  This month we'll be building on material from Level 1 while teaching dancers the fundamentals needed to progress to level 2.

Level 2 will be from 8-9 PM and is for those who've taken two months of 1.5. This month we're on our Savoy series. This series covers classic eight-count patterns that were invented by dancers in the Savoy Ballroom in Harlem, NY during the 1930s and 1940s.

For students who've been through all four of our Level 2 material, our Level 2.5 courses are just for you! This month from 7-8 PM each week we'll be teaching Balboa Concepts. We'll build on the material we covered last month in Level 2 with lots of new variations on the basics.

SOCIAL DANCE

After class, from 9 PM-10:30 PM we'll have our regular weekly dance. Staying for the social dance is a great way to try out moves you learn from lessons, as well as get to know your classmates, and it's free if you take a class.

ON JUNE 5th Jeremy Mohney and his band are playing for us, so stick around for some great live music!

Wednesday's at SKEYE Brewing

Join us for classes on Wednesdays at SKEYE Brewing! We've now offering Level 1.5 at 6:30 to anyone who's been with us for a month, and Level 1 for beginners are 7:30. We encourage our Level 1.5 students to stick around and re-take the Level 1 class so it's included in your nightly punch.

SKEYE Brewing is a more intimate class setting, and has the bonus of a 30-minute practice session after class to ask our instructors questions, and share a drink with your classmates.

ON JUNE 28th we're having our monthly social dance after classes. Join us at 8:30 for a beer, live music and swing dancing!

1940s Ball Swing Bootcamp

The Sunday before the WWII Era ball, we're hosting a beginner-friendly swing dance bootcamp for 1940's ball-goers. This 3-hour crash course will prep you to dance the night away on the outdoor dance floor at Boulder Airport. Timeframe, cost and details here.

Social Events

SATURDAY, JUNE 17th Head to the Boulder Airport for a night of swing dancing, live music, fabulous costumes, and a performance by Boulder Swing's own Flation Flyers!

SATURDAY, JUNE 24th We're off to hike NCAR's trailhead, then check out their free self-guided weather tour at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. We try to host one non-dance related event each month so our community of dancers have an opportunity to get to know each other away from the dance floor. Meet us at the trailhead around 11 AM and take in all Boulder has to offer us.
