This week was a busy one at Boulder Swing Dance. We had great attendance at our classes and dance at Kakes on Monday night, our Balboa classes on Tuesday, and our social event Thursday!
On Monday Night
Our Flatiron Stompers Performance Troupe made steady progress on their choreography. We're looking forward to their next performance!
In Level 1.5 we worked on refining the mechanics of our swing out. Followers also learned swivels and looked fantastic thanks to Skye's mantra of "dig, step, pocket" on the 7 & 8 count.
In Level 1 we had an awesome new group of students and began teaching the beginning rhythm and footwork of Lindy Hop. We also learned how to break away from our partners, low downs, and fire management.
Here is a video of our first combination of the night. It alternates two 8-count basics and two of our Charlie's Angels moves.
The second combination we did was a send out, low downs, a bring in, and our rock-step break.
In Level 2, Anthony and Sarah introduced us to some of the Frankie Manning's classic moves and vocabulary from the Savoy Ballroom era.
After class we danced to some great tunes by Jeremy Mohney and his band!
On Tuesday Night
We started a new Balboa series at Streetside Studios. We had an awesome turnout of 24 students and began learning the basic footwork of the dance. You can still join this class next Tuesday April 12, at 7pm. Here is the video recap from last Tuesday night.
On Thursday Night
We headed to West Flanders Brewery on Pearl and it was awesome to see so many of you there! In fact, we were so busy having fun, we didn't take any pictures, so you'll have to take our word for it. We plan on doing regular monthly social outings, so join us next time!
