The Flatiron Stompers need you!

Perform at this years’ 1940s Ball

This year Boulder Swing Dance’s troupe, the Flatiron Stompers, will be performing again at the WWII Ball in Boulder on June 18th. This is a community performance team open to all of our Level 2 students. Come out and learn a fun Lindy Hop choreography put together by Heather and Freeman that builds on and refines the material you’ve been learning in class. If you have never performed before, this is the perfect opportunity to do so! The routine will last 14 weeks, and starts the first Monday of March.

Due to space constraints, we will be limiting this routine to the first 10 couples who sign up.

Why perform?

Performing a routine is one of the best ways to improve as a dancer. You get constant, focused, repetition necessary for making good dance habits permanent. It is also a fun way to connect with other people and be a part of a team. It is also a great opportunity to show off your stuff in a safe, supportive, environment.

Dates

The Ball is on June 18th. The routine class will start Monday, March 7th and run 14 weeks.

What is the 1940’s Ball?

The 1940’s Ball is one of the largest World War II themed events in North America. It draws enthusiasts from all over the continent to Boulder in June. It is a celebration of the era, featuring vintage music, dress, dance, and performances.

Expectations

Being a part of a performance group requires certain responsibilities to your partner and to the team as a whole. To make the performance experience as smooth as possible here are some of the ground rules for joining the performance team. If you break these guidelines, then it may be cause for asking you to leave the group.

  • You must sign up with a partner of your choosing.
  • Attend all practices. If an emergency comes up, or you know in advance that you must miss a practice, let either Heather or Freeman know. You will be responsible for catching up.
  • Try to practice outside of class with your partner when possible. This is optional, but it will make things easier.
  • Be respectful of your fellow team mates.
  • The second week of the routine is the last week you can join.
