If your New Years resolution was to learn to Swing Dance, then you’ve come to the right place! Our level 1 class start Monday, January 4th. During this 4 week series you will learn the basics of Lindy Hop, the original swing dance. All of our classes are progressive. You can join the first or second week, but after that will need to wait until the February series starts. Each week after class we have a dance from 9-11 pm.
We will also be kicking off the New Year in style at our first dance with Jeremy Mohney’s band. This cat can swing, so stick around practice your new moves!
From 7-8 PM we will be debuting the new Level 1.5 class. This class builds on the material from Level 1, introduces new moves, and helps prepare students for Level 2.
In Level 2 (now 8-9 PM) we will be covering classic moves that originated in the Savoy Ballroom during the 1930s and 1940s in Harlem, New York. Many of these moves were invented or popularized by Lindy Hop pioneer Frankie Manning. These moves are all socially leadable and will add some spice to your repertoire of moves.
Below is a video of Whitey's Lindy Hoppers in the 1940s, a performance troupe that started at the Savoy Ballroom.
We will also be running a more advanced Balboa series from 7-8 PM. You must be comfortable with Balboa fundamentals, and need Heather Ballew’s permission to take the class. Feel free to ask her on Facebook or drop her a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is going to be a great start to a great year. We can’t wait to dance with you again!
