Stephen began dancing in 2005 and quickly became addicted to all aspects of swing. As a young dancer, Stephen started to travel the nation adamantly exploring the various techniques and nuisances of the dance. Throughout his journeys, Stephen has received several awards from nationally renowned camps such as Lindy on the Rocks, Camp Hollywood, and Cowtown Jamborama. In addition, he has also had the opportunity to perform and compete with high caliber teams such as Atomic Rhythm, The Balboa Justice League, and 23 Skidoo
In 2007 he began to academically pursue dance at the University of Colorado and has studied various forms of dance such as ballet, modern, hip hop, and African styles. As a comparatively young dancer in the scene, Stephen quickly accelerating as a well-known dancer through the national circuit and his ambitions are to push the boundaries of Lindy Hop through different styles of movement and connection. As always, Stephen would like to thank his personal dance guru, master artist, and “main squeze,” Stephanie Kobes.
